How we got got started
CB Cares Volunteer Teens was founded by Rajiv Deo and Danny Remishevsky in October of 2016. They got the idea when they were sitting at an introductory meeting of a local chapter of a national volunteer club. During the meeting, the teachers were explaining a leadership opportunity where they could apply to be leaders and they would get to run one event. Rajiv and Danny thought that was pretty cool and decided they were going to apply for that. But after some thinking, they realized that they could do better. Rajiv and Danny wanted to create a volunteer group where students didn’t need to pay $15 to get in, they didn’t need to write an essay, and it would be easy to learn about events and signup for them all on their phones. And so, Danny and Rajiv set out to do just that. After countless hours of planning, setup, and communication, they got in touch with their Middle School Principal at Unami, Mrs. Lang. And told her what they were trying to accomplish. As they were working Rajiv came up with a backup plan; they would join that club just in case this volunteer group didn’t work out or if barely any people signed up. But when they got to Unami to present their Group in their introductory meeting Danny and Rajiv were amazed at how many people signed up and wanted to join, so much so that they decided to get rid of the backup plan. And now, today CB Cares Volunteer Teens have gotten over 1000 Volunteer hours. Of course, there have been many challenging times in their journey but now they have introduced CB Cares Volunteer Teens to all of the middle schools in Central Bucks after a successful year at Unami.
